MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump held a 90-minute phone call, discussing exchanges of detained citizens and Ukraine, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noting Washington as Moscow's key counterpart on Ukraine. Trump then announced plans for a summit with Putin in Saudi Arabia.
The issue of agreeing on how to start the negotiations on Ukraine will be discussed at talks between representatives of Russia and the United States in Riyadh, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said on Monday.
Riyadh will host the bilateral talks between Russia and the United States on Tuesday, Ushakov said, adding that the parties agreed on it in a telephone conversation.
"The question now is to agree on how to start negotiations on Ukraine," Ushakov told Russian media, adding that the Russian delegation has a businesslike approach ahead of the negotiations.
The United States has not yet appointed its own negotiator who will conduct affairs with Russia on Ukraine, Ushakov said.
"Naturally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and I will be from our side, and Kirill Dmitriev [head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund] may also join us on economic issues," Ushakov said, commenting on the composition of the Russian delegation.
