US VP Vance Hits Back at WSJ for Misrepresenting His Stance on Ukrainian Peace Process
09:48 15.02.2025 (Updated: 11:21 17.02.2025) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - On Thursday, the WSJ published an interview with US Vice President JD Vance, with the headline that says he "wields" the threat of sanctions and military action to push Russian President Vladimir Putin into a Ukraine peace deal.
US Vice President JD Vance on Friday lashed out at the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) for misrepresenting his views on the Ukrainian peace process.
The vice president's communications director has already called the
WSJ's framing "pure fake news," posting screenshots of the article on X as evidence.
"The fact that the WSJ twisted my words in the way they did for this story is absurd, but not surprising considering they have spent years pushing for more American sons and daughters in uniform to be unnecessarily deployed overseas," Vance wrote on X.
According to the vice president, Donald Trump, perceived as an
"ultimate dealmaker," would be able to bring peace to the region by ending the Ukrainian conflict.
"President Trump is the ultimate dealmaker and will bring peace to the region by ending the war in Ukraine. As we've always said, American troops should never be put into harm's way where it doesn’t advance American interests and security. This war is between Russia and Ukraine," the US official emphasized.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump and Putin held a lengthy phone conversation discussing the Ukraine conflict settlement, among other topics. Trump phoned Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky later that day, and then announced that both Moscow and Kiev were interested in ending the hostilities.
