A refinery in Mbao, near Senegal's capital Dakar, owned by African Refinery Company, has reportedly processed 650,000 barrels of crude oil from the Sangomar field, 100 kilometers south of Dakar, and produced 90,000 tonnes of fuels such as diesel, kerosene, and butane since last Saturday.
Senegal's African Refinery Company (SAR) has started refining its own crude oil from the Sangomar field at its refinery in Mbao, near the capital Dakar.
"The management of the SAR is proud to announce the successful refining of Senegal's first crude oil. Once successfully processed and the appropriate results are obtained, by-products such as fuel oil and diesel are now transferred to special storage facilities," said a press release from the national company, which was created in 1961 to supply the Senegalese market with petroleum products.
