MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Top officials from the US, Russia, and Ukraine will meet in Saudi Arabia next week to discuss the possible ways of the Ukrainian conflict settlement, US President Donald Trump told reporters.
US President Donald Trump said he plans to meet with the leadership of China and Russia to discuss military deescalation, especially regarding nuclear weapons.

"I'm going to meet with China, and I'm going to meet with Russia, and we're going to see if we can deescalate, if we can bring it down military, especially as it pertains to nuclear," Trump said on Friday at a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

China could play an important role in ending the conflict in Ukraine, the US president added.
"I think that China is a very important player in the world. I think they can help us get this war over with Ukraine and Russia," he noted.
However, it is too early to say how the Ukraine peace negotiations will proceed, according to the US top official.

"As far as the negotiation, it's too early to say what's going to happen. Maybe Russia will give up a lot, maybe they won't, and it's all dependent on what is going to happen. The negotiation really hasn't started," Trump pointed out.

He also said that Ukraine's bid to join NATO was one of the things that caused the start of the conflict.

"I actually think that that was the thing that caused the start of the war. [Ex-US President Joe] Biden said it, [Ukraine's Volodymyr] Zelensky said it, and I think that was one of the starters of the war," Trump added.
