In June, Russian Deputy Minister of Education Denis Gribov reported to Russian media about a significant surge in demand for Russian language learning across African nations in recent years. He added that currently, 37,000 students from Africa are enrolled in Russian universities, with an additional 200 attending colleges.
Learning Russian exposes students to Russian innovations, enabling them to adapt and implement these advancements in their own countries, fostering domestic development, Adeola Oluwafemi, lecturer of Russian language in Nigeria, told Sputnik Africa.
Oluwafemi pointed out that studying Russian offers numerous benefits for African countries, including economic, political, social, and technological development. He emphasized the importance of Russian as an official UN language and the country's influence in the multipolar world.
