The FECOFOOT is the governing body of football in the Republic of Congo. Founded in 1962, it became a member of FIFA in 1964 and CAF in 1966. The FECOFOOT oversees the national league and the national team.
Escalating tensions between the Republic of the Congo Football Federation (FECOFOOT) and the Ministry of Sports resulted in a FIFA suspension. The situation, marked by police intervention and the closure of facilities, stemmed from FECOFOOT's alleged violation of rules against political influence, specifically the dismantling of the elected committee and the creation of an unauthorized replacement.

The suspension now bars Congolese clubs and national teams from international competitions and cuts off vital funding from FIFA and CAF. The organization highlighted the broader impact on a nation where football is a lifeline for thousands.
