MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier this week, Patrick Muyaya, the DRC's government spokesman and Communications Minister, called on the international community to sanction Rwanda for allegedly playing a part in escalating the M23 rebel offensive in the eastern region of the central African nation.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is ready to return to the negotiations table with Rwanda as part of the Luanda peace process, Deputy Foreign Minister Gracia Yamba Kazadi told Sputnik.

"Of course. For us, only the Luanda process can allow us to return to the negotiating table with Rwanda. The Democratic Republic of the Congo believes that only dialogue can lead to lasting peace. The war will lead to nothing; we must return to the negotiations table within the framework of the Luanda process," Kazadi said.

On Wednesday, the M23 armed group, allegedly supported by Rwandan forces, initiated a new offensive in the eastern part of the DRC, seizing control of the mining town of Nyabibwe in South Kivu province. This recent move brings them nearer to Bukavu, the regional capital. The DRC government denounced the attack, describing the group's self-proclaimed ceasefire as a "ruse."
