US billionaire entrepreneur and the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, said that government spending on media, in particular subscriptions to the Associated Press news agency, is a waste of taxpayers' money and will be cut. The head of the DOGE responded to an X post that revealed that in recent years, the US government had allocated millions of dollars to the Associated Press news agency, including for subscriptions to its news feed. On the same day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the DOGE is working on canceling payments for Politico subscriptions that are subsidized by taxpayer money. The White House comment came after media reports that Politico had allegedly received millions of dollars from the United States Agency for International Development.

Musk Pledges to Look Into US Government Spending on Media
08:54 06.02.2025 (Updated: 11:31 06.02.2025) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Last Sunday, Elon Musk called USAID a "criminal organization" that "needs to die." In a separate post on X, he described the agency as a "nest of radical left-wing Marxists who hate America."
US billionaire entrepreneur and the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, said that government spending on media, in particular subscriptions to the Associated Press news agency, is a waste of taxpayers' money and will be cut.
"Not for long. This is obviously a huge waste of taxpayer money!" Musk said on X on Wednesday.
The head of the DOGE responded to an X post that revealed that in recent years, the US government had allocated
millions of dollars to the Associated Press news agency, including for subscriptions to its news feed.
On the same day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the DOGE is working on canceling payments for
Politico subscriptions that are subsidized by taxpayer money. The White House comment came after media reports that Politico had allegedly received millions of dollars from the United States Agency for International Development.
