Dangote Refinery has already supplied Nigerian airlines and exported to global hubs such as London and Iceland. Reports from S&P Global Commodity Insights confirm that the refinery’s aviation fuel is now recommended for use at major airports, including Heathrow in the UK.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reached a significant milestone by successfully exporting two cargoes of jet fuel to Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia and the world’s largest oil producer, Nigerian media reported.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, announced the development during a visit by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group to the refinery and Dangote Fertilizer Limited in Lagos.

“We are reaching the ambitious goals we set for ourselves, and I’m pleased to announce that we’ve just sold two cargoes of jet fuel to Saudi Aramco,” Dangote was quoted as saying.

Dangote Refinery Decreases Nigeria's Reliance on European Petroleum Imports, OPEC Reports
Since production began in 2024, the refinery has steadily increased its output, now reaching 550,000 barrels per day.
With its increasing production capacity, the refinery has significantly reduced Nigeria’s dependence on imported jet fuel. Imports have dropped from 13,000 barrels per day in 2023 to just 5,000 barrels per day in 2024. Major international companies, including British Petroleum (BP), have also begun sourcing from Dangote, with BP recently purchasing its first cargo of 45,000 tonnes, according to media reports.
