Established in 2018, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a vast free trade zone encompassing most of Africa. With 43 parties and 11 signatories, it is the largest free trade area by member states after the WTO, and the largest in terms of population (1.3 billion people) and geographic size.
During the presidential session of the third Africa Prosperity Dialogues in Accra, Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama called for a common vision for the industrialization of Africa.
He said that political leadership and commitment to Africa's shared vision are critical to unlocking the continent's potential.

The head of state emphasized the enormous potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area. According to him, urgent actions are needed for countries on the continent to fully benefit from this agreement:
Trade liberalization;
Infrastructure investments;
Strengthening intra-African supply chains.

"I left the Dialogue convinced that we can achieve the vision of an industrialized and inclusive Africa in collaboration with the private sector," the Ghanaian leader subsequently wrote on his social media.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues is an annual event where African political and business leaders come together to discuss and advance the vision of turning the continent into the largest single market in the world.
