Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, during which Araghchi confirmed Tehran's desire to continue cooperation with the organization, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, also known as the Iran nuclear deal), was signed in 2015 among Iran, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Russia and the United States, as well as the EU. The deal provided for the easing of sanctions in exchange for curbs on Iran's nuclear program. The US withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran, which announced a gradual reduction of its commitments on nuclear research and uranium enrichment.

Iranian Foreign Minister Confirms Tehran's Desire to Continue Cooperation With IAEA
08:34 30.01.2025 (Updated: 10:31 30.01.2025) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - IAEA chief Rafael Grossi visited Iran on November 14-15, 2024. The aim of his visit was to have talks with the country's leadership and inspect Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordo and Natanz for a subsequent decision on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program (JCPOA).
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, during which Araghchi confirmed Tehran's desire to
continue cooperation with the organization, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
"Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi have exchanged views during a telephone conversation over the latest state of cooperation and technical interactions between Iran and the Agency. Araghchi reiterated Iran’s readiness to continue cooperation with the IAEA," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
On the same day, Araghchi also held talks with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and discussed bilateral relations,
nuclear negotiations, and regional developments.
"In this candid conversation, Araghchi outlined Iran's position on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear activities, stressing that the Islamic Republic has always been ready for dialogue based on its principles and national interests. He also underscored that this approach is not new and has been the basis for Iran’s past negotiations as well," the ministry added.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, also known as the Iran nuclear deal), was signed in 2015 among Iran, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Russia and the United States, as well as the EU.
