08:58 29.01.2025 (Updated: 10:16 29.01.2025) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has revoked the security detail and suspended the security clearance of the retired top US general, Mark Milley, Pentagon Spokesman John Ullyot said on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Fox News reported that Hegseth was planning to pull the security detail of Milley, and even considering demoting him. The move is reportedly caused by the general's alleged actions to "undermine the chain of command" during Donald
Trump's first presidential term.
"The Secretary informed General Milley today that he is revoking the authorization for his security detail and suspending his security clearance as well. The Secretary has also directed the DoD IG to conduct an inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding Gen. Milley’s conduct so that the Secretary may determine whether it is appropriate to reopen his military grade review determination," Ullyot said.
