91-year-old Paul Biya has led Cameroon since 1982 and is considered the oldest head of state in office.
Paul Biya, the current head of state of
Cameroon, will seek an eighth term as the country's president.
The Cameroonian head of state remains "the natural candidate of the People's Democratic Rally," Cavaye Yéguié Djibril, the president of the National Assembly, announced on January 23.
"At a time when some are calling for division and rebellion, let us remain united and lucid. Talking about entrusting our country to an unknown devil is irresponsible," he said.
The
presidential election in Cameroon is scheduled for October 2025.
