Revenue in the global medical cannabis market is forecasted to reach $21.04 billion in 2025, according to independent research firm Statista.
Ghana's cannabis industry, if supported by government investment, could potentially add $1 billion in revenue to the national budget, Chamber of Cannabis Industry CEO Mark Darko said at the launch of the Chamber of Cannabis Training Center in Accra, which aims to teach farmers how to grow and process cannabis.

"One can make not less than $10,000 from just one hectare of cannabis. This is a $50 billion industry. If Ghana is able to make at least $1 billion annually from cannabis. Cannabis will reset Ghana's economy," local media quoted Darko as saying.

The chamber's CEO reportedly urged the government to invest in the cannabis sector to diversify cash crops and increase revenue, saying that Ghana's climate is ideal for cultivation.
Citing the recent Narcotics Control Commission Bill, which allows for the industrial cultivation of cannabis, Darko emphasized the potential of medicinal cannabis production in the country, highlighting the substantial revenues seen in the US and predicted for Europe from this type of cannabis.
