MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Lead levels in the air in Los Angeles exceeded the norm by 100 times due to fires, while chlorine levels increased by 40 times, The New York Times newspaper reported on Monday.
Multiple wildfires have broken out in California on January 7, killing at least 27 people, forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands, and destroying more than 12,300 buildings, including celebrity homes.
According to US weather forecasting service AccuWeather estimates, damage and economic loss from the wildfires may reach between $250 billion and $275 billion.
