In today's digital world, studying artificial intelligence is vital as it drives innovation, streamlines processes, and tackles global challenges. AI enhances decision-making, boosts efficiency, and supports technologies like machine learning and robotics, making it a key element of the modern economy.
Nigeria is set to make history with the launch of Africa’s first university dedicated exclusively to artificial intelligence (AI), local media reported.
Scheduled to open in Epe, Lagos, the Wini Institution is designed to equip young Nigerians with advanced AI skills and position the nation as a global leader in technology and innovation.
Inspired by Qatar’s pioneering AI-focused university, Wini University aims to tackle
unemployment while fostering a thriving tech community across Africa. The institution has received strong backing from Nigeria’s National University Commission, with the project officially beginning development in 2016.
The university’s vision is to create an educational hub that trains students and academics in cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing,
blockchain, machine learning, and cloud computing. Its mission includes transforming Lagos into Africa’s Silicon Valley, a center for innovation and economic growth powered by technology.
