"Over two weeks of January, during offensive operations, units of the Sever [North] group of forces liberated four settlements: Aleksandriya, Leonidovo, Russkoe Porechnoe and Kruglenkoe," the ministry's statement read.
In total, 63.2% (801 square kilometers) of the territory of the region initially occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (1,268 square kilometers) have been liberated.

"The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk direction in January 2025 amounted to more than 5,600 people and over 570 units of military equipment, including 40 tanks, 213 infantry fighting vehicles and other armored vehicles, 91 artillery pieces and mortars, more than 210 vehicles," the ministry said in a statement.
Over the past day,
Ukraine has lost over 230 soldiers and a tank in the Kursk direction, the ministry said.
