He contrasted this with Western colonial powers like the US and Europe, which Senga accused of exploiting Africa for resources and disregarding its people, pointing to the Lumumba situation as evidence.The politician noted that Russia understands and respects Lumumba's legacy and expressed the possibility of a trip to Moscow in July to celebrate his centennial.On January 17, 1961, Lumumba and his comrades were shot by Katangese soldiers under the command of Belgian officers and buried at the scene of the execution.
