On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held the annual press conference summarizing the results of Russian diplomacy in 2024. The press conference was attended by both Russian and foreign journalists.
Democracy as Western countries teach it no longer interests Africans, Abdelhak Najib, a political scientist and writer, told Sputnik Africa, commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's recent press conference.
Earlier, in his speech, Lavrov stated that American-style democracy means "doing what they want."
According to Najib, this US approach is unsuitable for countries like Mali, Kenya, Senegal, or Morocco.
"We have our way of doing politics. We have our vision of social issues, political issues, financial issues, human issues. And we have no lessons to take from anyone," he added.
He argued that the word "democracy" is merely an "empty shell" representing a "form of disguised totalitarianism."
Najib also stated that the American vision of peace is biased, as Washington believes it "means going to war and escalating conflict in order to subjugate all."
