President of Central African Republic to Travel to Moscow on January 14, Press Secretary Says
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - President of the Central African Republic (CAR) Faustin Archange Touadera will travel to Moscow on January 14 for a 3-4-day visit, CAR presidential spokesman Albert Mokpem told Sputnik on Monday.
"The visit of the president to Moscow has been confirmed, and departure is tomorrow. The whole trip will take 5 days with flights, so 3–4 days in Moscow. There will be a tete-a-tete meeting with President Putin," Mokpem said.
In late November last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin
held a phone conversation with Touadera and discussed the development of relations between the countries in political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Central African Republic Faustin Arcange Touadera. The state and prospects of further development of friendly bilateral relations in political, trade, economic, humanitarian and other fields were discussed," the statement read.
The leaders also focused on countering terrorist threats and ensuring stability in the CAR, the statement added.
Touadera, in turn, expressed gratitude for the
diverse assistance that Russia provides to the country, the Kremlin added.
Furthermore, the CAR president thanked Putin for assistance in lifting the embargo on diamond exports within the framework of the Kimberley Process, the Russian Embassy in Bangui said back then.
"The President of the CAR Faustin Archange Touadera sent a 'Thank You' message to Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the assistance provided by our country in lifting the embargo on diamond exports at the plenary session of the Kimberley Process on November 15 in Dubai," the statement read.
Touadera
noted the special role of Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, employees of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and Russian experts working on Central African soil, the embassy said.
"The lifting of restrictions on the trade in precious stones will create favorable conditions for the stable economic development of the Central Asian Republic and ensure an increase in the standard of living of the population," the statement added.
