Morocco is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and vibrant cities. Touristic appeals include the historic Medinas of Marrakech and Fez, the stunning Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert with its majestic dunes, and the beautiful coastal city of Essaouira.
In 2024, Morocco welcomed a record 17.4 million tourists, marking a 20% jump from the previous year, with Moroccans abroad comprising nearly half of the total, according to the country's tourism ministry.
The Moroccan tourism sector, which represents approximately 7% of the country’s GDP and is a vital source of jobs and foreign currency, has already surpassed its 2024 visitor targets two years early. The ministry forecasts 26 million tourists by 2030, coinciding with its co-hosting of the World Cup.
