Earlier, Russian Trade Representative in Nigeria Maxim Petrov told Sputnik that grain and fertilizer exports from Russia to the West African country will increase several times in the coming years.
Grain
shipments to Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Cuba via the West Siberian Railway (WSR) increased nine times compared to 2023, reaching 514 thousand tonnes, Russian media reported, citing the press service of the WSR.
"In 12 months, 514,000 tonnes of grain were shipped from the stations of the West Siberian Railway for export to Cuba, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, which is almost nine times more than in the same period last year," the WSR said.
The daily figure of grain transportation on the WSR in 2024 also broke records: 302 wagons in 24 hours. The previous record was set about three years ago, at the end of 2021.
After that, the goods were sent to ports for
export. The WSR noted that the growth of the indicators became possible due to the development of the Cargo Express service and the joint work of railway operators, exporters and authorities.
