Over 60% of French want President Emmanuel Macron to resign, while 72% do not believe his pledges, an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting poll commissioned by Le Figaro newspaper showed on Friday. Sixty-one percent of the respondents said they believed that the political crisis in the country should be resolved as soon as possible through the president's resignation, which is a 7 percentage point increase since September. This view is shared by supporters of all French political parties, except Macron's liberal Renaissance party, according to the pollster. Only 28% of the respondents said they believed Macron's pledges. As many as 86% said the president must appoint a new prime minister in 2025. The poll was conducted online among 1,005 French from January 2-3. Meanwhile, the leader of French party The Patriots, Florian Philippot, condemned Macron for having spent "a ton of money" on training in France soldiers of the 155th brigade for the Ukrainian armed forces, many of whom had reportedly deserted soon after returning to Ukraine. On November 14, France completed the training of 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers from the 155th brigade, including three infantry battalions, an engineering and artillery corps, ground-air surveillance and reconnaissance units. The Midi Libre daily reported in December, citing Ukrainian media, that an investigation had been launched in Ukraine over the desertion of 1,700 out of 2,300 soldiers trained in France soon after they were sent to the frontline.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - French leader Macron has previously admitted the possibility of dissolving the French parliament again in July 2025, which the French constitution allows for.
Over 60% of French want President Emmanuel Macron to resign, while 72% do not believe his pledges, an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting poll commissioned by Le Figaro newspaper showed on Friday.
Sixty-one percent of the respondents said they believed that the
political crisis in the country should be resolved as soon as possible through the president's resignation, which is a 7 percentage point increase since September.
Meanwhile, the leader of French party The Patriots, Florian Philippot, condemned Macron for having spent "a ton of money" on training in France soldiers of the 155th brigade for the Ukrainian armed forces, many of whom had reportedly
deserted soon after returning to Ukraine.
"This means that we spent a ton of money, French money, on the self-promotion of Macron and [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, on training a brigade that does not even exist! Shame on all the politicians who admired this! In fact, this meant continuing the war and wasting French money! Let us stop the massacre: not a cent more for Ukraine," Philippot wrote on X.
