Earlier, the Russian government ordered the reopening of embassies in Niger and Sierra Leone and the establishment of an embassy in South Sudan. Niger already hosts an honorary consulate, led by an honorary consul who is not part of the diplomatic service but performs certain consular functions.

"We are developing direct interactions between the people of our countries, which form the basis of long-term cooperation between Russia and Africa. To enhance business contacts and tourist exchanges, it is important to create comfortable conditions. The first step in this work is the opening of embassies, which will not only formalize the expansion of our diplomatic presence in Africa but also become 'windows to Russia' for the people of these countries who are interested in our country," noted Overchuk.

He expressed confidence that the diplomats who will come to work in these countries will make their professional contributions to the development of trade-economic, cultural, and educational ties between the countries.
