Andrey Pod'yelyshev has been appointed as Russia's ambassador to Nigeria, according to the decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In another decree, the head of state dismissed the previous head of the diplomatic mission, Alexey Shebarshin.Andrey Pod'yelyshev previously served as the Russian Consul General in Istanbul. He has been in diplomatic service since 1984 and worked as a Consul General in San Francisco from 2001 to 2004.
