Kiev's actions against Russian speakers in Donbass leave no room for peace, a Tunisian-Swiss political analyst Riadh Sidaoui told Sputnik Africa, commenting on Lavrov's statements at a presser on Thursday.
While the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized the need for
reliable agreements that address the root causes of the conflict, the Kiev regime is committing aggressive actions against Russian language speakers in Donbass, the speaker noted.
"Russia has been patient for many years, but Kiev and the new Zelenskyy government continue to persecute Russian speakers. This has left no room for peace," he explained.
The expert also commented on the Russian minister's revelations about
France's role in possible negotiations.
"France has lost all its influence on the international stage. It is just a subcontractor of American policy. Despite this, Emmanuel Macron wants to play the great power card; this is France's psychological complex," Sidaoui emphasized.
As for Syria, Sergey Lavrov said he was open to dialogue with the new authorities, which indicates a rational policy on the part of Moscow, even if the country's future remains uncertain, the speaker noted.
"The Syrian issue is not over. On the contrary, the real Syrian crisis has just begun. Today we do not know where the country is moving," he pointed out.
