MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier in December, the US Department of Defense reported that the total amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine under President Joe Biden has surpassed $62 billion.
The US Defense Department should continue increasing military supplies to Ukraine, President Joe Biden said, commenting on Russia’s alleged missile attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
On Wednesday, the coordinator of the local pro-Russian underground network Sergey Lebedev told Sputnik that the Russian military hit energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine's Dnepropetrovsk (Dnipro) and Ivano-Frankovsk (Ivano-Frankivsk) regions, among others, as well as the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

"[...] The United States and the international community must continue to stand with Ukraine. […] The United States has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles, and more are on the way. I have directed the Department of Defense to continue its surge of weapons deliveries to Ukraine, and the United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine’s position in its defense against Russian forces," Biden said in a statement.

When US lawmakers approved a spending bill Saturday, Sept. 30, that averted a widely expected government shutdown, the measure didn’t include the $6 billion in military assistance that Ukraine said it urgently needed. Now the Pentagon, White House and European allies are urging Congress to quickly reconsider. - Sputnik Africa, 1920, 03.12.2024
