MOSCOW (Sputnik) - An Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Aktau, western Kazakhstan, on Wednesday morning.
Preliminary information indicates that 62 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane that crashed in Aktau, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport said on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry said that an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed at the Aktau airport in western Kazakhstan. Preliminary reports indicate that there are survivors. The preliminary cause of the plane crash in Kazakhstan's Aktau was a collision with a flock of birds, according to Azerbaijan Airlines.
The APA news agency, in turn, reported that there were 67 passengers and five crew members on board the plane.

Twenty-seven survivors were taken to the hospital after the plane crash in Aktau, including three children, the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry told Sputnik.

52 rescuers and 11 pieces of equipment from the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan arrived at the crash site.
