Russia successfully shows strategic resilience and undisputed sovereignty under the pressure of Western sanctions, a Nigerian political scientist, Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, told Sputnik Africa.Russia has effectively countered Western sanctions through strategic political maneuvering, leveraging Putin's deep understanding of global politics and economics, combined with skilled economic policymaking of the country, the expert noted. Military advancements, such as the new Oreshnik ballistic missile, made the West "understand that at any time Russia could actually change the line of action when it comes to the military strategy, when it comes to military industrial complex, as well as fighting any form of warfare." President Putin described the assassination of General Kirillov, carried out under the supervision of the Ukrainian Security Service, as a terrorist attack to which Russia, according to the expert, must and will respond effectively.

Russia became much stronger in the last 2–3 years, contrary to Western expectations, President Vladimir Putin stated during his annual direct line combined with a press conference held on Thursday.
Russia successfully shows strategic resilience and undisputed sovereignty under the pressure of Western sanctions, a Nigerian political scientist, Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, told Sputnik Africa.
"The West has not been able to understand that Russia is still a great power, and Russia has all it takes to defend its sovereignty," he said, commenting on President Putin's words at the annual direct line that Russia is becoming a truly sovereign country.
Russia has effectively countered Western sanctions through strategic political maneuvering, leveraging Putin's deep understanding of global politics and economics, combined with skilled economic policymaking of the country, the expert noted.
"He understands them [Western authorities] very well, and he understands those who came before them. So, this is one area which gives Putin leverage in Russia to be able to navigate within these particular odds and Western sanctions and to be able to lift the Russian economy," the political scientist emphasized.
Military advancements, such as the new
Oreshnik ballistic missile, made the West "understand that at any time Russia could actually change the line of action when it comes to the military strategy, when it comes to military industrial complex, as well as fighting any form of warfare."
President Putin described the assassination of General Kirillov, carried out under the supervision of the Ukrainian Security Service, as a terrorist attack to which Russia, according to the expert, must and will respond effectively.
"That it is going to be a big lesson not only for Ukraine but for the entire Western macho group, which continues to actually sponsor this right now in Ukraine," Ibrahim pointed out.
