MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The United States may deploy tactical nuclear weapons at the Lakenheath military base in the United Kingdom in the next few years, The Telegraph newspaper reported.
The US is building a new tactical nuclear weapons storage facility at Lakenheath, and it is expected that some of the tactical warheads currently stationed in the US will be relocated to the facility when it is completed, the report said on Tuesday.

There are currently about 100 American B61 nuclear bombs stationed in Europe, the report read. At the same time, the UK and France are reportedly discussing the possibility of bilateral cooperation to develop tactical nuclear weapons.
In January, The Telegraph reported that the US was planning to deploy nuclear weapons in the UK for the first time in 15 years because the alleged threat from Russia was growing.
