On December 16-17, Moscow welcomed delegates from 17 countries for the 2nd edition of the Meet Global MICE Congress: BRICS Edition. Discussions focused on current trends and opportunities for stable development within the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism industry, specifically within the BRICS framework.
The share of
BRICS countries in the global business tourism market in 2025 may exceed 60%, according to expert estimates, said Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov during his speech at the Meet Global MICE Congress.
"We expect that this year the volume of the MICE industry will still exceed $800 billion. But another thing is more important: according to experts' estimates, next year the share of BRICS, Global South in this market may already exceed 60%," Vakhrukov said.
Speaking at the forum, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov noted that the BRICS and Global South countries are becoming more important on the world stage.
"At the moment it is 36% of the world economy, 21% of world trade. A new center of the world economy is being formed on the basis of our countries. Therefore, the development of tourism plays an increasingly important role in the economy of our countries," he added.
