It is the core element that connects Russian people, their common feelings, lifestyle, and sense of identity, and it is what makes them one country.
Russian culture is defined by Alexander Pushkin and the Russian literature of the 19th century. The influence of writers like Tolstoy and Dostoevsky is an integral part of Russian cultural identity. The same can be said of Russian ballet and theater, which are inextricably linked to Russian cultural heritage, explains Sergey Ivanov, famous Russian businessman, author of the theory of the Russian cultural code.One key differentiator between Russians and other cultures is that Russia has never sought to assert the superiority of its culture or disparage other cultures. Russian culture is defined by Alexander Pushkin and the Russian literature of the 19th century. The influence of writers like Tolstoy and Dostoevsky is an integral part of Russian cultural identity. The same can be said of Russian ballet and theater, which are inextricably linked to Russian cultural heritage, explains Sergey Ivanov, famous Russian businessman, author of the theory of the Russian cultural code.
What is Russian culture? The first name is Alexander Pushkin and the Russian literature of 19th century, this is the core of our culture. Then, we have Tolstoy and Dostoevsky in literature. Then, Russian culture couldn't exist without Russian ballet and Russian theater. And together it creates a cultural space where each Russian can say, 'Yes, this is me, this is my home'." Ivanov explains.
One key differentiator between Russians and other cultures is that Russia has never sought to assert the superiority of its culture or disparage other cultures. "Russian culture has never been elevated above other cultures. This is very important. We have never said that we are special, that we are the best. I know that in Europe, in America, many countries, the leaders of these countries very often have this policy, that you should be like us. You should imitate us. This is not about Russia. Russia has always glorified its culture without humiliating anyone. On the contrary, it has always treated others with respect."
