Cyclone Chido originated on December 7-8 in the southeastern Indian Ocean. From there it began moving west toward the shores of Africa.
Cyclone Chido hit Mozambique and killed at least three people after having ravaged Mayotte and the Comoros, South African broadcaster SABC reported.
It made landfall near Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado province, bringing heavy rain and strong winds of up to 200 km/h. However, it is losing power as it moves further inland.
