MOSCOW (Sputnik) - A group of masked men reportedly burned a mausoleum that serves as the resting place of ex-President Hafez al-Assad, his eldest son Bassel and his wife Anisa Makhlouf.
An armed mob has burned the grave of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's father Hafez in his hometown of Al Qardahah in Latakia province, Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar reported on Wednesday.
Videos posted on social media show Hafez al-Assad's grave in flames. Hafez al-Assad was president of Syria from 1971-2000.

Syrian armed opposition captured the capital of Damascus on Sunday. Russian officials said that Bashar al-Assad stepped down after holding negotiations with participants of the Syrian conflict and left Syria for Russia, where he was granted asylum. Mohammed al-Bashir, who ran an Idlib-based administration formed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other opposition groups, was named interim prime minister on Tuesday.
