Russian Parliament Ratifies Agreement With Algeria on Cooperation in Space Exploration

The agreement between Russia and Algeria was signed in Moscow on June 15, 2023. It provides for the creation of a legal framework for the implementation of a joint policy aimed at establishing and developing cooperation programs in space activities.
The ratification of an agreement between the Russian and the Algerian governments on cooperation in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes was approved by the Federation Council (FC), the upper house of the Russian parliament, at a meeting on Wednesday, the FC said in a statement.
The State Duma ratified the agreement between the two nations on November 27, according to the house's website.
According to the agreement, the areas of cooperation are space science and space exploration, including astrophysical and planetary research, remote sensing of the Earth from space, satellite communications and navigation, space geodesy, meteorology, materials science, biology and medicine, and manned space flight.

"The competent authorities responsible for the implementation of the Agreement are: on behalf of the Russian side - the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos, on behalf of the Algerian side - the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL)," the agreement noted.

The International Committee of the FC noted that the ratification of the agreement is in the interests of Russia; it will make it possible to implement mutually beneficial programs and projects, develop the scientific, technical and production potential of the Russian space industry.
