CAIRO (Sputnik) - Syrian armed opposition groups captured Damascus on Sunday. Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali said that he and 18 other ministers had decided to remain in the capital, and he was maintaining contact with the opposition leaders.
The political process of change of power in Syria may take six months, Syrian Administrative Development Minister Salam Safaf told Sputnik.
"I expect the political process to take six months," Safaf said.
The minister added that Syria could develop foreign relations in a better way than earlier.
The Syrian opposition armed groups that took over the power are working on containing unrest and preventing possible violations of law, Safaf said.
Syrian President Bashar Assad had stepped down and left Syria after negotiations with some participants in the Syrian conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
Assad and members of his family arrived in Moscow, and Russia granted them asylum on humanitarian grounds, and Russian officials are in contact with representatives of the armed Syrian opposition, whose leaders guaranteed the security of Russian military bases and diplomatic facilities in Syria, a source in the Kremlin told Sputnik on Sunday.
