UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - Syrian armed groups captured the national capital of Damascus on Sunday. Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali said that he and 18 other ministers had decided to remain in Damascus. Al-Jalali also said he had contacted the leaders of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group that had entered the city.
The Russian mission to the United Nations is closely following the events in Syria, but the diplomats want clarifications on many of the happenings, Deputy Russian Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy told Sputnik on Sunday.

"We in New York are closely monitoring the situation; everyone, not just us, has many questions about what happened and what is happening," Polyanskiy commented on the current situation in the UN following the fall of President Bashar Assad's government.
