Retail fuel prices for imported products in Tanzania drop amid the appreciation of the national currency, the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) said in a statement. Particularly, retail prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene that were delivered via Dar es Salaam Port have decreased by 1.5%, 2.3% and 3.9% respectively, the Ewura noted. This comes despite the fact that the average cost for petrol imports has risen by 7.6%, while this figure has increased by 7.1% for kerosene and by 12.8% for diesel. The Ewura mandated oil companies to maintain competitiveness in terms of fuel prices, ensuring that they comply with the figure set by the regulatory body.
