Ethiopia produced a record volume of wheat in 2023-2024, the office of the prime minister Abiy Ahmed said in a statement. The figure reached 23 million tonnes in this period, the office noted. Particularly, smallholder farmers harvested 12,3 million tonnes, cultivating 3.6 million hectares. The office added that in the 2019-2020 harvest period, Ethiopia produced 5,4 million tonnes of wheat.
