The Young Scientists Congress is an important platform for dialogue between basic and cutting-edge science, government authorities and the real economy, and informs the scientific and technological development of Russia, according to the event's website.
Sputnik Africa is live as Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a meeting with participants in the IV Young Scientists Congress, which was held in Russia's Sochi on November 27-29.
The meeting is taking place in the residence of the President of Russia, Novo-Ogaryovo, located in the Moscow region.
This year's congress was attended by more than 7,000 people from 85 regions of Russia, including new Russian regions, and 63 foreign countries. The age of the participants varied from six to 87 years, the average age was 33 years. The number of higher education institutions participating in the IV congress is about 500, of which 95 are foreign higher education institutions, the organizing committee said in a statement.
The IX BRICS Young Scientists Forum was held at the congress venue in 2024. The forum gathered the largest number of participants in its history - 180 delegates. This was due to the accession of new member states to the international association: since the beginning of the year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have joined BRICS. The forum concluded Russia's chairmanship of BRICS in the field of science, technology and innovation, the statement noted.
The congress is becoming a popular and widely recognized event, attended not only by young Russian scientists, but also by representatives from other countries of the world, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the day.
