"A slave's view of his situation as a slave cannot be identical to that of his master," General Rapporteur of the committee responsible for writing the General History of Niger emphasized, speaking about the principles of the initiative to rewrite books on Niger's history.
Colonization is part of Niger's history, and it cannot be "erased" from the past, but the nation can take a critical look at it and reflect it in history books so that future generations do not ignore their past, General Rapporteur of the committee responsible for writing the General History of Niger Mamadou Djibo told Sputnik Africa.
"The colonial system in the history of Niger is only one of the periods. […] We are at the heart of the history of continental Africa. So why not update it? To prevent our children from continuing to ignore their history," Djibo explained.
