Acting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati is likely to announce a ceasefire agreement with Israel on Wednesday, a Lebanese political source told Sputnik on Monday. The agreement includes the holding of presidential elections in Lebanon, which have not been successfully held since late 2022, when former leader Michel Aoun stepped down.Last Tuesday, US Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East Amos Hochstein arrived in Beirut on an official visit to hear the position of Lebanon and Hezbollah on the points of the agreement proposed by the US side for a ceasefire with Israel. Hochstein said on Wednesday that some progress had been made in talks with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. After his visit to Beirut, Hochstein held talks in Tel Aviv.

BEIRUT (Sputnik) - Since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli military operation in Lebanon on October 1, at least 3,365 civilians have been killed and nearly 15,000 others injured in Israeli attacks, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
Acting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati is likely to announce a ceasefire agreement with Israel on Wednesday, a Lebanese political source told Sputnik on Monday.
"The agreement is a success. Prime Minister Najib Mikati will announce the ceasefire on behalf of Lebanon in the next two days, most likely on Wednesday," the source said.
The agreement includes the holding of presidential elections in
