Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik that Kiev, being unable to defeat Russia on the battlefield, decided to open a "second front" in Africa, indulging terrorist groups in African states that are friendly to Moscow.
The Kiev regime works closely with international terrorist groups in transporting mercenaries for military action against Russia and training militants to fight against legitimate governments in Africa and Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during the conference of Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
"The neo-Nazi Kiev regime uses terrorist methods, closely cooperating with international terrorist groups and transnational criminal networks, including the transfer of foreign mercenaries to participate in the military action against Russia, as well as training militants to fight against legitimate governments in Africa and Syria," Lavrov said.
The minister also expressed confidence that the security services of the CIS member states must "respond promptly and firmly to all such threats."
On November 9, Acting Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Mikhno, said on the sidelines of the first Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, held in Russia's Sochi, that Kiev openly supports terrorists in Africa, particularly in Mali. He added that Russia will support Africa against the Ukrainian terrorism on international platforms.
