The incumbent president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, congratulated opposition candidate Yamandu Orsi of the Frente Amplio coalition on his victory in the
presidential elections.
With 81.26% of the votes counted, Orsi is winning the election with 49.02% of the votes, while his opponent, the candidate from the center-right party, Alvaro Delgado, receives 46.74%.
"I called Yamandu Orsi to congratulate him on becoming the president-elect of our country and to begin the process of transferring power when he deems it appropriate," the president said on X.
