In January, the African National Congress' (ANC) national executive committee decided to suspend Jacob Zuma's membership in the party. Later in July, the ANC expelled the former president from the party, saying that he was found guilty of attacking the integrity of the ANC by forming the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party).
Former South African President Jacob Zuma "strongly rejected" the ANC's recent decision to uphold his expulsion from the ruling party and will consult on further steps with the legal team, the press service of his organization, Jacob Zuma Foundation, said in a statement.

"In the coming days, H.E. President Zuma will consult with his legal team, his ANC representative, Cde Tony Yengeni, his family, and his political comrades to deliberate on the way forward. Once a decision has been reached, it will be communicated to the nation by H.E. President Zuma," the statement read.

The national disciplinary committee of the ANC dismissed Zuma's appeal against his dismissal on Friday.
