The government of Mali released the CEO and two employees of the Australian gold miner Resolute Mining previously detained over a tax dispute, the company said in a statement issued on Thursday.The CEO and the other employees had arrived in the capital, Bamako, to meet with mining and tax authorities to discuss Resolute's operations in the country and to pursue unfounded tax claims against the company, and had been unexpectedly detained, according to Resolute.Following the detention of the workers, Resolute reached a memorandum of understanding between the government of Mali and the miner to pay $160 million to Mali to settle a tax dispute, and has already made an initial payment of $80 million.

Resolute's CEO and two of the company's employees had been detained by the Malian government for almost two weeks since November 8, 2024, the mining company said earlier.
The government of Mali released the CEO and two employees of the Australian gold miner Resolute Mining previously detained over a
tax dispute, the company said in a statement issued on Thursday.
"Resolute Mining confirms that the Company's CEO, Terence Holohan, and the two other employees have been released from the Economic and Financial Centre of Bamako, in Mali. All three employees are safe and well and have departed the country," the statement read.
The CEO and the other employees had arrived in the capital, Bamako, to meet with mining and tax authorities to discuss Resolute's operations in the country and to pursue unfounded tax claims against the company, and had been unexpectedly detained, according to Resolute.
Following the detention of the workers, Resolute reached a memorandum of understanding between the government of Mali and the miner to pay
