South Africa welcomes the decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif for alleged crimes against humanity, South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation reported.The ministry stressed the country's commitment to international law and urged all state parties to act in accordance with their obligations in the Rome Statute.The South African foreign ministry also urged the global community to uphold the rule of law and ensure accountability for human rights violations.In November 2023, the ICC received a referral of the Situation in the State of Palestine from South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti, and in January 2024, the Republic of Chile and the United Mexican State additionally submitted a referral to the prosecutor with respect to the situation in the State of Palestine.

South Africa welcomes the decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to
issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif for alleged crimes against humanity, South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation reported.
"These actions mark a significant step towards justice for crimes against humanity and war crimes in Palestine," the reports stated.
The ministry stressed the country's commitment to
international law and urged all state parties to act in accordance with their obligations in the Rome Statute.
