Russia and Congo signed a memorandum of cooperation in the naval field, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.During the meeting, the ministers from the two countries discussed current issues of the Russian-Congolese cooperation in the military sphere and joint projects in the defense sector, as well as ways of their implementation. In addition, they agreed to continue coordination in all areas of bilateral military cooperation.In October, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov held talks with Burkina Faso's Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela and discussed areas of cooperation, the defense ministry said.

Russia & Congo Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Naval Sphere
Dr. Adama Diabate, an advisor to the President of Mali, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi that the close relationship with Russia has given African leaders the confidence to act independently, no longer feeling beholden to former colonial powers.
Russia and Congo signed a memorandum of cooperation in the naval field, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, and the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of the Congo, Lieutenant General Charles Richard Monjo, met in Moscow," the ministry said.
