On Sunday, US President Joe Biden reportedly authorized Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with American missiles ATACMS. In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that allowing Kiev to use its Western long-range missiles on Russia would mean NATO's direct participation in a war against the Russian Federation.
Biden’s decision on ATACMS missiles is quite irresponsible, an Argentine sociologist, PhD in Politics Jorge Elbaum, told Sputnik.
"Biden’s actions seem to indicate confidence in the inevitable defeat that Ukraine and NATO countries will suffer, and thus he wants, in the months remaining before the inauguration of Donald Trump, to ensure that Russia somehow responds to this provocation, which would increase the risk of escalation," Elbaum noted.
He added that Biden's decision will lead to him going down in history not only as a "disgustingly decrepit president," but also as one who put the entire world in an endlessly dangerous situation.
At the same time, Mexican international relations expert David Garcia Contreras believes that the move likely taken by Biden was a "last desperate attempt to strengthen Ukraine’s position."
