SIRIUS, Russia (Sputnik) - The First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, following the Second Russia-Africa Summit in 2023, began its work on Saturday at the Sirius Federal Territory of Sirius University in Russia's southern city of Sochi.
Numerous African countries in need receive no assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, as a major part of the global financial institutions' resources are being spent on Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday.
"Today, a number of really struggling African countries do not receive the necessary financial support from, for example, the IMF and the World Bank, and do you know why? They can spin many tales, but you and I know the truth, and let us spell it out now. Yes, it is because they redirect the main resources to support the Kiev regime, or, to put it bluntly, the war," Zakharova said at the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
Russian officials have warned repeatedly that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement of the conflict and directly involve NATO countries in it. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict not only by providing weapons, but also by training Ukrainian personnel in European countries.
